Foundation for Youth Development

Date: 21 August 2013

The foundation is a child and youth charity co-founded by mountaineer Graeme Dingle and lawyer Joanne Wilkinson in 1995 and is in 12 regions throughout New Zealand.

There are three programmes offered through the schools:

Kiwi Can - teaching life skills and values to 5-12 year olds.

Stars - makes the transition into secondary school a more positive experience for year 9 students  through peer mentoring.

Project K - helping selected year 10 students recognize and realize their potential.

FYD Marlborough is administered by a local trust and currently delivers Project K through Marlborough Boys' and Marlborough Girls' colleges.  It is a 14 month programme which encourages participants to consider their health and lifestyle choices and their academic and career options.

In 2014 FYD Marlborough plans to introduce Kiwi Can to the region  through primary schools.  If you would like Kelvin to come and speak with you,  or if you have funds you would like to contribute to one of the programmes,  please give us a call and we will put you in touch with him.
