Blue for a cause
Many of you will have seen that we are getting Blue for a good cause this September.
For those that don't know what that is all about, it is for Prostate Cancer awareness. Blue September is the Prostate Cancer Foundation's national awareness campaign.
Every year around 600 men die in New Zealand of prostate cancer. That is more than 600 fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers - gone!
This happens because men don't know how dangerous the disease is, they don't talk to their doctor about it, and they simply don't do anything about it. This has to stop. Prostate cancer can be successfully treated if detected early enough.
That's why Blue September is about getting the word out about prostate cancer. If you buy a blue ribbon, paint your face blue, donate money to the Prostate Cancer Foundation or even tell people, you will be raising awareness to help lower the death rate and reduce the suffering from this disease.
So that said, this is a reminder for the breakfast fundraiser:
When: 19 September at 7 am
Where: FairWeathers on Scott St
Come along for a good old Kiwi breakfast buffet, listen to guest speaker Dr Ian Bryce and maybe win one of the spot prizes. Tickets available from TvA or Fairweathers.
$25 tickets for a good feed and fun ($10.00 of that goes to the Prostate Cancer Foundation).
Ring us to organise a ticket for you (for catering, we need to know numbers) - what could be easier?
Please feel free to pass the message around, the more the merrier…
You might just see this fella with a blue face again.
Regards
Geoff
