TvA adopts a Kakapo

TvA is proud to announce that we have symbolically adopted one of New Zealand's most endangered birds Kuia the Kakapo.

Kuia (meaning: 'wise, old woman') was born on Maud Island in the Marlborough Sounds on 3rd March 1998 and named after the local iwi Ngati Kuia.

The Kakapo is a flightless bird and also the heaviest parrot in the world.  With a life expectancy of 90 years - it is possibly the longest-lived bird.... Kuia could possibly out live us!  We will keep you up to date with her story and we may even convince Geoff to fly down to meet her in person.

What to find out more about the Kakapo?  Or do you want to adopt one yourself?.... Follow this link to the Kakapo Recovery website:  http://kakaporecovery.org.nz/
