The Health Curve Ball

Date: 27 March 2014

As some of you know - I like to fly, that is my stress relief…

What would happen if I didn't fly?

Well I found that out in September when my flying medical identified my blood pressure was hot - 180/120 and more to the point I didn't know about it - even though I have annual non flying medicals (with my GP).

So medical certificate gone…and pressure release value gone with it.

Then in October, like dads do, I went on my ten year olds school camp, and a great camp it was. Climbing a tree I ripped off my right bicep tendon beside my elbow . That meant an operation to reattach the tendon, a dead right arm in a sling and lots of rehab when it came out.

Like most things when it goes bad, it goes really bad…

The mind starts working and the stable ship and the business becomes slightly tiller-less

So I put it out there.

"How would your business cope if you - the boss, couldn't have your hand on the tiller day in day out?"

What systems do you have to enable that boat to continue if you are not functioning just as you should?

Think about it, put some plans in place - write them down, do the planning, so if some curve ball T bones your ship someone or some process has their hand on the tiller.

To me, we sit here mid March with blood pressure closer to normal. A flying medical only just back and a reason to keep building a plane

(not only do I fly, but I am building a plane, that is another story ask my wife…), an arm functioning closer to normal -(just don't ask me to do to any push ups)

- just running a little slow at filing all the tax returns my team needs to - sorry clients …
